clear aligners

We all want to have straight teeth, especially for our children. However, traditional dental braces have always come with a number of problems and side effects. Thankfully, due to advancements in dental technology there is now a better option, clear aligners.

Your local dentist near you at Joy Dental is proud to offer clear aligners to all of our patients that need corrective braces.

What Are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are a modern-day orthodontic treatment that patients can get without having to wear traditional braces. The process involves using clear, removable trays to gradually straighten teeth over time.

Patients who are interested in getting clear aligners can talk with Dr. Aisha Husain here at Joy Dental and see if that is the right choice for their unique situation. There are many different options for clear aligners and each option has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. The type of dental apparatus used will depend on how severe the patient’s problem is, as well as their finances.

Who is Eligible for Clear Aligners?

Below are a few patient conditions which allow patients to receive clear aligners:

  • Patients who want to straighten their teeth without having to wear traditional braces.
  • Teenagers whose adult teeth have not come in and need treatment.
  • Patients undergoing orthodontic treatment but don’t want the visible wires or brackets on their teeth.
  • People with certain medical conditions such as TMJ, mouth guards can be worn at night instead of using metal appliances that may irritate these symptoms–these patients should consult a doctor before proceeding through this process.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

This innovative system uses clear removable trays made from a type of dental grade thermoplastic. The trays are custom made and are worn by the patient for a period of time.

The process begins with an examination to determine which teeth need treatment, then we will make impressions or take photos of your teeth before making the trays that you’ll wear during treatment. The tooth position is monitored through periodic checkups every few weeks and adjustments can be made if necessary–this usually takes about 18 months.

The process uses a series of trays to gradually straighten teeth, rather than a fixed apparatus attached to the teeth as with ordinary braces.
